RAIN GAUGE
Rain Gauge is an app that displays observed precipitation at your current GPS location or any given address currently available for iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch). It is an ideal app for weather enthusiasts, farmers, fishermen, gardeners and anyone else who has an interest in current and historical precipitation. Information is only provided at this time for the 48 Continental United States and Puerto Rico.

The app features a graduated rain gauge that fills with water to accurate precipitation levels, as recorded by the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). Historical durations, detailed charts and 24 hour precipitation map are easily accessed from the same screen for quick reference.

Why Rain Gauge?

OFFICIAL PRECIPITATION DATA (NOAA)
Rain Gauge is the only app on the market with real-time access to official, national precipitation data, as recorded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Whereas other rainfall-oriented apps are mere journals for manually recording localized rainfall, Rain Gauge queries data from the strictly-monitored NOAA database. It uses an intermediary server to compile and distribute the data to users devices. NOTE: Rain Gauge data comprises all forms of precipitation, not just rain.

STORE MULTIPLE LOCATIONS
Users have rapid access to their list of favorite locations, allowing quick reference for geographical places of interest.

HISTORICAL DATA
Rain Gauge presents its information in an amazingly intuitive format, with a simple, user-friendly interface and single-touch access to a breadth of historical periods, ranging from a single day to a year.

CHARTS AND MAPS
Comparative line graphs detail precisely when and how much precipitation occurred in any period of time, and visual maps indicate regional precipitation.

SOCIAL DATA SHARING
Local Information can easily be shared as text through a variety of channels, including Email, Facebook and Twitter.

ONGOING DEVELOPMENT
Rain Gauge has overgone a massive graphical overhaul, and additional updates are frequently added. The Rain Gauge community is actively involved in development of the app, and users communicate with developers via an in-app suggestion box.

Latest reviews of Rain Gauge app for iPhone and iPad

Negative rainfall amounts in the Pacific NW of all places
Like the other reviewers, I too am seeing negative rain amounts. Rained all day to the tune of about .4" of rain, but according to this app we got -2"
Way off
I have a home Rain Gauge, but thought this app would be helpful in getting cumulative amounts. When I first installed it, it gave me a negative 2 inches - my Rain Gauge showed almost 2-1/2 (it rained all night). I emailed support and they said it updates every 2 hours. Sure enough, two hours later it said .77 - my Rain Gauge showed 3. Its now several very wet hours later and the app still shows .77 - in the real world we now have flood warnings. It says its at my address, but wherever its measuring, it isnt here.
Good app
I used this app every time it rains. Works great.
Good data & Good app!
Like this app, it allows me to keep up with the rainfall at my address. Even though sometime it takes the data 24 hours to show up. Its still better than trying to keep up with my own Rain Gauge in the yard.
Cool app
As a weather bug, I find this app to be very useful.
